Obituary

Servant, well done enter into the joy of the Lord!

Matthew 25:23

Bishop John Wesley Scott Jr., was celebrated at his birth on August 4, 1941, and culminated on February 11, 2023, through his peaceful earthly transition into eternal rest.  Born in Bonifay, Florida to the late Wesley and Missionary Alberta Scott.  He received his early educational training from the public schools of Holmes and Washington Counties; he graduated from Roulhac High School in Chipley, Florida as Salutatorian of his class.  Bishop Scott began preaching at the young age of seven and received his Doctorate of Theology from Bethel Bible Seminary in Jamaica, New York.  He also studied at New Life Bible Institute, Shiloh Pentecostal Bible Seminary, and Florida Bible College.  Bishop Scott matriculated through the ranks as Minister, Elder, Pastor, Evangelist, Assistant Superintendent, and Teacher.  He was the founder and Presiding General Bishop/Prelate of The Gospel of Jesus Christ Deliverance Crusade, Inc.  Bishop Scott served as the Senior Pastor of Miracle Deliverance Holiness Church in Folkston, Georgia.

After graduation from high school, he moved to Jacksonville, Florida and shortly after relocated to Folkston, Georgia.  It was there, Bishop Scott met the love of his life Pearlie Mae Hannan.  They married on June 25, 1961, and from this union six sons were born, John Avis, John Myros, Louis Valentino, Vellie, Christopher Jerome, and John Alexander Scott.  For over 61 years they supported and loved each other.  Together they faithfully built churches, and impacted lives through their teaching and preaching of God’s Word.  Bishop Scott was labeled as the man who teaches the Word with demonstration, clarity, and power.  He taught, trained, and equipped men and women of God for Kingdom work.  Bishop Scott was a certified chaplain for the Department of Corrections and Death Row in Georgia and Florida, pastoral counseling, and marriages.  He committed his life to the gospel and countless generations were inspired, saved, and delivered through his provoking preaching message, anointed prayers, and gifts that God gave him.  He will be most remembered as a servant leader, a faithful husband, a stellar father, and beloved friend.

He is preceded in death by his parents Wesley and Alberta Scott, three brothers Johnny Scott, Robert Scott, and Willie Dorsey Smith, two sisters Dr. Edna Mae Brown, and Retha Mae Walters. Bishop Scott leaves to praise his legacy, his beloved faithful and devoted wife Evangelist Pearlie Mae Scott, sons, and daughter.  John Myros Scott, Louis Valentino Scott (late Debbie), Teresa Redden, Vellie Scott (Shawn), Deacon Christopher Jerome Scott (Teri), Elder John Alexander Scott (Sabrina).  Fifteen Grand-Children and Eight Great Grandchildren.  Five siblings, Willie Mae Doyle, Ruthie Morisset (Peter), Deloris Flowers (A.
