Bro. Edward Lamar Holmes Sr. life on this earth began November 2, 1957 in Waycross, Ga. to the late Leroy Holmes and Julia Mae Cooper Holmes. He received his formal education from the Waycross Public School System where he displayed and demonstrated his love and passion for basketball.
He lived in Jacksonville, Fl. for many years where he was a faithful member of Truth in Love Ministry under leadership of Pastor William Cobie Nesbitt lll.He was owner and operator of Lamar’s Mobile Car Wash since 1997.
He departed this life on Friday August 13, 2021 in St. Vincent’s Medical Center after an illness. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Verna Jean Pack, a brother, Leroy W. Holmes and a nephew, Charles Anthony Holmes ll.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of sixteen years, Debra K. Holmes; children, Robert Jermaine Robinson, Shawntel Holmes, Edward Lamar Holmes Jr. (Angel), Christina Hingleton (Phillip), Lorene Kellam, Gregory Kellman and Denean Gray; twelve grandchildren; one great grandchild; sisters, Julia Walker, Phoebe Dunbar and Vanessa McCurry; a brother Charles Anthony Holmes Sr. (Carol); a uncle Eddie Lee Cooper (Cara); a niece he raised, Yia Iverson; an adopted son, Jardan Streater; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
A celebration of life service will be held Friday August 20, 2021 at 12:00 noon at Faith of God Holiness Church 1509 R.L. McGee Drive, Waycross, Georgia where Bishop Larry Atkinson is pastor and his pastor , Pastor William Cobie Nesbitt lll, officiating. Public visitation will be held Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Final and most sacred arrangements are entrusted to the professional care of Fluker Funeral Home, 985 Ossie Davis Parkway, Waycross, Georgia.
