Dr. Dorothy Eaddy Stringfellow, 82, was born June 7, 1942 to the late Mr. John G. and the late Mrs. Dollie Newton Eaddy. She attended and graduated from Lee Street High School in 1960. Dorothy continued her education by attending Edward Waters College for a year and then on to Tuskegee Institute.
From Tuskegee Institute, she matriculated to the University of Maryland and then onto Howard University where she received her Ph.D. Dorothy was employed by the federal government and retired under President Clinton’s Administration as the Director of the United States Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspections in Washington, DC. After retirement she returned to Jacksonville and was employed at Edward Waters College as an Adjunct Professor. Upon leaving and returning to Blackshear, Dorothy kept herself busy by serving in many auxiliaries in her church, Scott Chapel UME Church, the United Methodist Women’s Ministry, sewing, making jewelry and baking. Dorothy wore many hats, not just the ones she adorned her head with.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Mrs. Dollie Eaddy Solomon.
Dot loved her family tremendously and her sister and her brother unconditionally. She leaves to mourn her demise, one sister, Mrs. Gwendolyn Eaddy Smith (Thomas), two brothers, Mr. John G. Eaddy, Jr. (Isabella), Mr. Isiah Brown (Lenora) all of Blackshear, GA., and one Brother in law, Mr. Larry Solomon of Jacksonville, FL. One niece, Mrs. Angelo Eaddy Paschall (Stacy) of Blackshear, GA. Two nephews, Mr. Thomas Smith Jr., (Latika) and Mr. Salif Solomon, both of Tampa, FL. Two great nephews, AJ Ameer Lyaunty Staten, Jr., Ellsworth Airforce Base, Ellsworth, South Dakota and Master Jordan Micah Smith, of Tampa, FL. Two special cousins, Mr. Elliott Chatman (Florence) of Jacksonville, FL and Mrs. Helen J. Fobi (Mal) of Atlanta, GA. A host of cousins and friends.

A public funeral service will be held at 4:00 pm on Monday, July 22, 2024, in the Fluker Funeral Home Chapel in Waycross, GA..
