Deaconess Ollie Mae Anderson Byrd was born August 10, 1926 in Waycross, Georgia to the late Henry Anderson Sr. and Ainniebelle Hall Anderson.
She grew up in Folkston, Georgia where she received her formal education from the public school system.
She was married to the late Leroy Byrd. Sis. Byrd lived in Jacksonville, Fl. most of her life where she was a faithful member of First Timoth Baptist Church.
She departed this life on Friday morning July 23, 2021 in Jacksonville, Fl. after an illness. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Anniebell Peterson and three brothers, Henry Anderson Jr., Willie Anderson, Frank Smith.
Surviors include two grandchildren, Kenneth Ray Newsome and Ayashia Wong both of Jacksonville, Fl.; a sister-in-law, Mary Smith Gibbs of Folkston, Ga.; a brother-in-law, Warren Austin of Folkston; a special nephew, Larry Smith Sr. (Minerva) of St. George, S.C.; a special niece Cheryl Zow (James) of Folkston, Ga.; host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A celebration of life service will be held Saturday July 31, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in Pickney Chapel Cemetery Pinckney Chapel Cemetery Road, Folkston, Georgia With Dr. Artie Smith bring words of comfort.
