James Charles Powell

Mr. James Charles Powell was born October 8, 1942 in Waycross, Georgia to the late Deacon Heikes Powell Sr. and Deaconess Mary Young Powell.

He received his formal education from the Waycross Public School System and graduated from Center High School. After high school he enlisted in the United States Navy where he received a honorable discharge in 1965. He later worked for many years for the Ware County Board of Education in the maintenance department.

James accepted Christ as his personal Savior at an early age and became a member of St. Peters Missionary Baptist Church in Waycross, Ga.

On August 4, 2020 he departed this life after an illness. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his siblings, Helen Powell Cobb, Heikes Powell jr., Lorine Powell Lawrence, Willie Powell, Lorenzo Powell Sr. and Austin A. Powell Sr.

Those left to cherish his memory include two sisters, Lena Powell and Mamie Powell Koonce both of Irvington, N.J.; an aunt, Lillian Thomas Powell of West Columbia, S.C.; nieces. nephews, cousins, other relative and friend.
