With heartfelt sympathy, Minister Willie James Moore, Sr. of Waycross, GA gained his wings on the morning of December 28, 2022, from an extended illness.
Minster Willie James Moore, Sr. was the oldest of six children born to the late Rev. Isaiah Moore and Lillie Lewis Moore on October 4, 1935, in Ambrose, GA. Minister Moore or Willie J., as he was affectionately known, received his childhood schooling in Ambrose, GA. He lived in Ambrose, GA as a young adult until relocating to Waycross, GA.
Min. Willie J. started out in the farming occupation. After relocating to Waycross, GA, he worked as a car mechanic for his own business and part-time in pulp wooding. He also worked many years as a supervisor and machine mechanic at Waycross Molded Products, Inc. where he retired. After retirement, he held part-time jobs at Gold Key Automotive and Pizza Hut.
Minister Moore leaves loving memories with his wife, Gloria Scriven Moore of Waycross, GA; his daughter Gloria Moore and his son Willie James Moore, Jr. of Waycross, GA; step-children Genelda Scriven, John Scriven, Jr., and Vickie Scriven Thomas, who preceded him in death; a grandson Demetrius Moore; a host of step-grandchildren ; and great-grandchildren Jayden Moore and Jace Moore; his brother and sisters, Charlie Moore (Ann) of Jacksonville, FL, Mildred Mitchell of Waycross, GA, and Rebecca Weaver of Tampa, FL, a host of nieces and nephews; a dear friend Prophet Turner and several family members and friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Willie J. was previously married to Eloise Marshal Moore to which that union were born three children of which his daughter Ineva Denson preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brother Willie Jenkins, Sr., his sister Elizabeth Wilkerson, and his youngest brother John L. Moore.
Fluker Funeral Home Inc., 985 Ossie Davis Parkway, Waycross, GA 31501, oversees arrangements for the celebration of life on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at 11:00AM. The service will be held at Big Bethel Baptist Church at 1221 Thomas Street Waycross, GA.
