Jeanette Maxine Paulk was the youngest of three children born to Earnest Paulk, Sr, and Annie J. Paulk. She entered this earthly life on March 2, 1943, and she transitioned to her eternal, heavenly home on Tuesday, October 8, 2024. She was predeceased by her parents Earnest and Annie Paulk, her older sister Juanita P. James and brother Ernest Paulk, Jr.
In her youth, Jeanette was an active member in the family’s home church-Saint Paul Missionary Baptist Church. Jeanette was a product of the Waycross Public School System, where she attended Center High School. At Center High School she was member of the chorus/band. After completing high school, she attended Albany State College where she majored in Business Administration.
Jeanette was devoted to her family. She worked in numerous capacities in the retail and customer service industry to assist in providing for her family. For many years she worked at J.C. Penney’s and later retired from the Walmart Corporation. She also performed some substitute teaching assignments in the Waycross Public School System. Jeanette was a conscientious worker and took pride in each of her jobs.
Mom loved to travel, and she lived abroad in Germany for several years as well as stateside in Maryland and Texas prior to moving back to her birthplace of Waycross, Georgia. In her younger days it was nothing for her to drive 8 or 9 hours to her destination of choice. In addition, she also enjoyed sitting in her recliner and watching sporting events. Her favorite professional teams were the Jacksonville Jaguars, Atlanta Braves, and the Golden State Warriors.
Jeanette was saved and accepted the Lord at an early age, she rededicated her life to Christ and was baptized at Emmanuel International Cathedral of Holy Spirit under the leadership of Bishop Michael Angelo James. She was faithful member and very active and served in various capacities such as Leader of the Culinary Committee, Madam President of the Usher Board, Chairperson of The Family and Friends Day, Member of the Mother’s Board and Mother of the Church at Emmanuel International Cathedral of Holy Spirit.
Jeanette leaves behind four children: Leonardo W. Taylor(Rhoda White), Rodrique D. Taylor (Lynette), Tangela A. Reese-Woods(Deceased) and Lenzy C. Reese,Jr (Lou Ester Steele); nine grandchildren: Leonardra Taylor(Deceased), Leslie D. Foxx, LaVondra Foxx, Johnathon Caldwell, Teyonna Jones, Kweli Taylor, Alexia Gunn-Taylor, Andre Orange, Jasamine Brooks, and 10 great grand-children Anyla, Lasani, Karmyn, Morgen, Zion, Jamira, Janiah, Venetta, Kamari, Zoey.
Ms. Paulk was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. A beautiful woman of God, with great strength, wisdom, and courage. She had an infectious smile, kind heart and sense of humor. She was an excellent cook, who loved to demonstrate those skills for her family and friends. Mom, we will cherish each memory we have with you.
