A TIME TO BE BORN... Joanna Rooks Davis was born August 24, 1923, in Waycross, Georgia. She was the second of three children born to Walter and Unilla Rooks. Her parents and siblings Leon and Walter Mae preceded her in death.
A TIME TO BUILDUP... She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church where she was a faithful member and served in numerous ministries including the choir, Celestial Singers Mission Ministry, Bible Study and several others. Her favorite song was “He Touched Me.”
A TIME TO BE TRAINED... Joanna received her education from the Waycross, Georgia Public School System, graduating from Center High School.
A TIME TO LOVE... She met the love of her life, Verdell Davis and was united in Holy Matrimony until his demise in 1993.
A TIME TO PLANT... Joanna was employed at Baptist Village for 28 years. Prior to that, she was a nurse for Dr. W.L. Pomeroy for a long period of time. She was a hard worker and her dedication was unmatched. Her employment ended when she retired.
A TIME TO DIE... She was called from labor to reward on February 3, 2023.
A TIME TO MOURN... She leaves to cherish her memory, one son, Norman E. Davis, Sr., 6 grands, 16 great grands, and 5 great-great grands; a god-daughter, Mary D. Thomas; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; two special friends and caretakers, Darlene Robinson and Alicia Williams, and numerous loving friends.
