MOTHER LUCY SHELTON Obituary

Mother Lucy Lee Shelton was born November 11, 1923, to her late parents George and Ada Bell Alexander in Dixie, Georgia. She was the fourth child of five children.

She was united in Holy Matrimony on February 23, 1945, to Council Shelton, Jr. until his death in 2009. To that union nine children were born.

Mother Shelton received the Holy Ghost on September 14, 1965 and became a member of Mason Temple COGIC. Her love for God and faithful dedication blessed her with favor to be appointed Church Mother.

Mother Shelton possessed as servant’s heart and was an encouragement to all she encountered. She was a spiritual mother to many sons and daughters. She faithfully served her church and community up until her health failed.

The matriarch was “The glue that held her family together.” Her sayings were: “Love does what Love does.” and “Love has hands and feet!”.

On Thursday morning August 11, 2022, God called her, to her heavenly home, from labor to reward. Other than her parents and husband Council Shelton Jr., she was preceded in death by her children, Mary “Tran” Johnson, Gloria Jean Shelton, Willie James Shelton and Supt. Samuel Le’Ray Shelton.

Mother Lucy Shelton leaves her love and legacy to be treasured by her children, Willie Bell Kitchen (Harry), Margaret Johnson (James), Betty Farmer all of Waycross, Ga, Sandra Stewart of Atlanta, Ga and Vance W. Shelton of Lawrenceville, Ga.; 20 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and 30 great great grandchildren; a special friend Joan Murray; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2022, in the First Born Church Of The Living God, 1120 Hj Echols Dr, Waycross, GA 31501. Interment will follow in Hazzard Hill Cemetery, 905 Central Ave, Waycross, GA 31501
