MOTHER RUTH MAE (EDWARDS) PERKINS

Mother Ruth M. Perkins was born on May 12, 1929, the third child of the late Georgia and Robert Edwards, Sr. in Folkston, Georgia. She was a dedicated wife, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. She married Deacon James Perkins July 15, 1950, although they had no biological children of their own, they were instrumental in the lives of her niece, nephew and the Littlefield Family. After her husband service in the military ended, they move from Cairo, Georgia to Waycross making it their home. She was a prominent member of Eastern Star Order of 313, Deaconess Ministry, Usher Ministry, Mother’s Board and various community clubs in Waycross area.

At an early age, Mother Perkins accepted Christ as her personal Savior and started serving the Lord in church. During her earlier years she was raised in the Methodist Church in Folkston, Georgia. Later in life she joined the New Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church along with her husband where he served as an ordained Deacon.

Mother Perkins was preceded in death by her husband, James Perkins; parents Robert and Georgia Edwards; siblings, Lillie Bryant, Johnny Edwards, Estelle Bryant and Robert Edwards, Jr.; nephew, James Edwards.

Mother Perkins leaves to cherish her memories: special friend for 46 years becoming her caregiver for the last 5 years of her life, Rabboni Bostick; niece, Lillie Ruth (Hattie Mae Johnson) and family of Ohio; God-daughters, Andrea Collins and Glenda (Sand) Long; God-son,  Ricky Thomas; devoted friends, Jessie Jones, Nettie Williams, Vivian Reed and The Littlefield Family of Waycross a host of great nieces, nephews, friends and her church family.
