Mr. Andrew Lamar Pitts passed away peacefully in Jacksonville, Florida at Memorial Hospital on September 7, 2025. He was born October 8. 1945 in Waycross, Georgia and was the second son of the late Mable Hill Pitts Bembry and Jimmy Pitts.
Andrew Pitts graduated from the New York City school system in 1963, where he was an outstanding basketball player and on the boxing team. After gradation he joined the Air Force. After his time in the service he then went on to attended and graduate from Hamline University, Saint Paul, Minnesota 1973 with a BA in business.
Andrew Pitts was a great Sales Manager at Schlitz Beer where he was awarded best salesperson three years because of his leadership and dedication. Later moving to New York City and taught in Westchester Schools system until retirement. There he met his significant other Mrs. Jill White. They have shared a love for over 10 years and she states, " He is the best man she's ever known."
Two things he was known for: He loved sport - basketball, golf, football and boxing were his favorite; and music.
Andrew was preceded in death his parents Mable Bembry and Jimmy Pitts; Henry Pitts his brother: and Sylvia his wife.
Andrew is survived by his son Kareem Lamar Pitts (Kimberly Miller) Greenup, Kentucky; Grand daughter Alisha Anne Pitts, Atlanta. Georgia; Aunt Alma Inman. Waycross Georgia; a long-time companion Jill M. White, New York, New York; He is also leaving behind many cousins, family members and friends.
