Mr. Cleophus Joseph Jacobs known as C.J. was born on May 14, 1951, in Blackshear, Georgia to the late Cleophus Julius Jacobs and the late Frances Y. Harris-Jacobs. He was the fourth child of seven children. He attended Lee Street School. At an early age, he attended church with his family at Zion Baptist Church and Piney Grove Freewill Baptist Church. C.J. accepted Jesus Christ as his savior and thereafter he was ordained as a deacon on December 15, 2021, at the Kingdom Faith Church of God in Christ, Inc. under the leadership of Pastor Tony Terrell Reynolds. He was a faithful deacon who would lead prayers and hymnals. He also volunteered with Gaines Chapel A.M.E. Church as a vacation bible school teacher. He worked as a mechanic, GATX painter and boilermaker (welder) and truck driver. He was an outgoing, friendly and full of life individual. To us, he was a sweet special man, brother, father, uncle, cousin and friend. He could repair and build anything. He was married to Vivian Seymore Jacobs, and to that union they had three wonderful children: Timothy Jerome Jacobs, Christopher Joseph Jacobs and Miranda LaTrelle Jacobs. After a short illness, he transitioned from his earthly home on Friday, March 27, 2026.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cleophus and Frances Jacobs. He leaves to cherish his memories: Sons: Timothy J. Jacobs of Waycross, Ga., Christopher J. Jacobs of Marietta, Ga; a daughter Miranda L. Jacobs of Waycross, Ga.; a god-daughter: Randal Trier Sanders of Whitsett, NC; Siblings: Carrie Hawkins tof Harrisburg, Pa, Connie (Allen) Jenkins of Harrisburg, Pa; Minnie (William) Reid of Jacksonville, Fl.; Deborah Taylor of Waycross, Ga, Beulah (Earl) Evans of Blackshear, Ga and Terrell (Angela) Jacobs of Albany, Ga.
