Mr. David Douglas III, passed away on February 23, 2025. He was born on September 28. 1964, in Waycross, GA, to the Minnie Ola Davis Douglas and the late David Douglas Jr. of Waycross, GA.
He graduated from Waycross High School in 1983. He was honored as the MVP player of the 1983 football season. He was part of the Waycross Bulldogs 1981 championship team. He was employed with Wells Cargo South Inc. for 27 years.
David, or Jr., as he was affectionately known, joined Friendship Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and served on the junior and senior usher board before getting ordained as a deacon. Later, he moved his membership to Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church of Patterson, GA, where he served as a deacon.
He departed this life on Sunday, February 23, 2025. Other than his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Deacon David (Addie) Douglas Sr., and sister Pearl C. Davis.
Those left to cherish his memories include one son, David (Dante’) Douglas IV, one daughter, Joy Alexis Douglas, both of Atlanta, GA and one godson, Peydon Butler, whom he loved so much. His mother Minnie Ola Davis Douglas, One sister Valeria Douglas, one brother Curt (Shameka) Douglas, one nephew Quayshon Douglas, two nieces Shaneka Moore, and Camary Douglas, two great nephews Khiri Moore and Aiyden Douglas all of Waycross, GA. Additionally, one god sister, Mrs. Cheryl Kennedy of Waycross, GA, one uncle, George Douglas (Joe-Ida), of Savannah, Ga, along with aunts Linda Anderson of Miami, FL, Christina Davis of Atlanta, GA, Rosa L. Douglas, Barbara Davis, and Mattie Davis all of Waycross, GA, a host of cousins, and other relatives and friends.
Public visitation will be held Friday, March 7, 2025, from 4-6 pm at Fluker Funeral Home Chapel 985 Ossie Davis Pkwy, Waycross, GA. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, 1:00 pm, at the Word Of Faith Christian Center, 204 S Crawford St., Waycross, GA 31503. Interment will follow in the Oakland Cemetery on Plant Ave, Waycross, GA 31501
Family and Friends will start to be received on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at the residence of his mother, 909 Marion Street, Waycross, GA 31501. The family request all visitors to use safety precautions and avoid direct contact if you are sick. Please continue to keep the family in prayer during this difficult time.
