Celebration of life for an amazing man, Mr. Eugene Curtis Davis, transformed to a new home of peace on September 11, 2024, in Lake City, Florida. Eugene Davis was born on ABC Avenue in Waycross, Georgia to the parentage of the late Elizabeth Wright Davis and Bishop Ernest Davis on September 3, 1939. He walked this earth for 85 years touching the lives of so many.
Eugene was the life of the party, always dancing and singing with a contagious smile. He never met a stranger, everyone was a friend. In High School, he played football known as “Ghost”. He was skilled in Karate and Judo. Many knew him as Curt, EC, Dad, Papa, grandad, or the little man who didn’t play about his daughters. He enjoyed serving the community whenever help was needed.
Eugene Curtis Davis was the grandson of the late Rev. J. S. Davis and Lula P. Davis. He graduated from Center High School in 1959, attended Penn State University, Philadelphia, PA, and served in the United States Navy on the USS ESSEX (CVS-9).
His career was in hotel management out of Atlanta, Georgia and law enforcement of Waycross, Georgia. Early in life he met his soulmate and was joined in holy matrimony of 64 years to Armetha D. Reid with whom was blessed with four girls.
Those left to cherish his memory include a devoted and loving wife, Armetha Reid Davis of Waycross, GA; his children, Tonya Pierce, Deltona, FL; Monique M. Davis of Atlanta, GA; Eligia C. Lowham (Keith), Reston, VA; Victoria E. Davis of Waycross, GA; Danette Strickland (Don), Clayton, DE; and William Chatman of Philadelphia, PA; sisters, Sabrina Rodriquez (Vincent), Atlanta, GA; and Dora Greene of Upper Marboro, MD; grandchildren, Shintarsha M. Davis, Armetha Martin (Marty), Mark C. Watts, Jr., Tobias A. Davis, Ashanti T. Davis, Tremayne A. Davis (Danazia), Ma Kayla S. Thomas, Keri-Kapria J. Jones, Aria Character, Tiffany Goins, and Quiana Smack and host of great grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 11:00 am at Greater St Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 1110 Pittman St. 31501 Internment and Military Honors will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, 5000 Brunswick Hwy., Waycross, Georgia 31503. Family and friends are being received at his residence located at 206 Columbus Street, Waycross, GA. Please keep the family in prayer during this difficult time.
