MR. HORACE GRAHAM, JR Obituary

Horace Jerome Graham Jr., born April 30, 1966, in Waycross, Georgia, entered eternal rest on November 17, 2025, after a brief illness. He was 59 years old.

Horace spent his early years in Waycross, full of energy, personality, and a spirit that couldn’t be contained. As he grew older and began finding his own path, he moved to Washington, D.C., to complete high school—a transition that grounded him and opened the door to many of the relationships and experiences that shaped his life. He graduated from Calvin Coolidge Senior High School in 1982.

Known to many simply as Jerome, he carried a warm spirit and an unmistakable presence. He lived life with a hustler’s heart and a generous soul. He adored his dogs, loved being surrounded by family, and had a gift for lifting spirits with a joke, a story, or a smile that made the room feel lighter.

Blessed with skilled hands, Horace enjoyed carpentry and took pride in building, fixing, and creating. His sense of style was unmatched—he always had an eye for fashion and loved staying laced in the newest shoes. Sports were another passion, especially football; he was a devoted fan of his beloved Raiders and followed just about every other sport with equal enthusiasm.

In 2020, Horace married the love of his life, Peggy Graham, with whom he shared deep companionship, laughter, and unwavering devotion.

Horace was the cherished son of Linda Poole (Lonnie) and the late Horace Graham Sr. He was preceded in death by his natural son, Joshua Starr, and his sisters Sheryl Denise Mitchell and Charmaine Tranham.

He is survived by his paternal siblings: Edward Graham and Willie May Johnson. His maternal siblings include Marene Chavis, Chevelle Sumner (Zachory), and James Johnson Jr. He leaves to carry his legacy his daughter, Shantae Graham.

Horace embraced family in all forms. He was a loving bonus father to Dexter Bailey, Shanika Bailey, Jarquez Bailey, and Tyteyannah Bailey. He is also remembered fondly by a host of nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, extended family, and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Horace lived boldly, loved deeply, and left his mark on every life he touched. Though he will be deeply missed, his spirit, strength, and laughter will continue to live on in all who knew him.
