On November 17, 2025, the lord called his son Kenneth Sylvester Austin, Sr. home. He was born November 24, 1937, in Jacksonville, FL to the late Fredrick Douglas Austin SR & Ola Mae Ray Austin. At 7 years old he moved to Folkston, GA where he was raised by his grandparents Henry Lee & Minnie Dawson Austin. He graduated from Bethune Elementary School in 1958.
In the late 1950’s he met the love of his life Deloris Bolden. The two were joined into holy matrimony on July 24, 1960. Together they raised nine children. Kenneth retired from CSX formally known as Seaboard Coastline. He also owned and operated The Silver Moon in the late 1960’s and 1970’s.
"Daddy Rap" as he was affectionately called by his loved ones, enjoyed sitting on his porch and listening to his music. He had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone. He was known for making you laugh even when he wasn’t trying too. A devoted and loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, nephew, and cousin.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 44 years Deloris Bolden Austin. One son Virgil Austin, one sister Audrey Austin Benjamin and two brothers Fredrick Douglas Austin, Jr. and Eugene Austin.
He leaves to mourn his passing: His children Wanda (Curtis deceased) Burroughs, Tracey (Jacqueline) Stephens, John (Viola) Stephens, Kenneth Austin, Jr., Ola Austin, Wendell Austin, Robin (Ronnie) Haas, Brian Austin and Tony Mack. Two sisters- Alice Grant and Gloria (James) Howell. (1) Uncle Warren “Baby Boy” Austin and (1) Aunt Mae Hester Austin. 28 grandchildren, a host of great grands, great great grands, nieces, nephews, family & friends. (2) Godson’s- Kenneth Bailey and Larry Gibbs.
Family and friends are being received at his home 701 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Folkston, GA. Please keep the family in prayer during this difficult time.
