Lonnie Adamson Jr. passed away on February 18, 2025. He was born on November 20, 1954, in Waycross, GA, to the late Lonnie Adamson Sr. and Florence Adamson.
He graduated from Waycross High School in 1974, where he was a star football player and track runner. He went on to attend Albany State University on a football scholarship, studying Physical Education. Lonnie was a dedicated member of White Hall Church, where he served under the leadership of his brother, Bishop Clarence Adamson.
During his career as a CDL truck driver, Lonnie was inspired to invent and successfully patented the “Adamson Animal Blankets,” a protective layer designed for animals of all sizes and weather conditions. Lovingly known as “Coach Monkey Juice” he dedicated his time to youth in Ware County Recreations winning several state championships in football and basketball. He enjoyed traveling, watching and attending sports games, selling greens during the holidays, and visiting the homes of friends and family to share laughs and love.
Lonnie is preceded in death by his parents; his daughter Kimberly Denise Adamson; grandsons Lonnie Adamson IV and Marquez Shirey Thomas; and sisters Fannie Mae Knight and Mary Crouch.
He is survived by his children: Min. Eu’Tracy Adamson (Nakeisha), Sedrick Adamson, Telethia Adamson, Taurence Collins, Lonnie Adamson III (Allison), Lance Adamson, George Shirey, and Mekael Shirey; grandchildren: Quintarius, Azariah, Kimbron, Colexia, Nazyah (Zee), Cyntiana, Jaylen, Maaliyah, Marissa, Brooklyn, and Khani; brothers: Clifford Adamson, Clarence (Margaret) Adamson; sister: Janice Adamson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Family and friends are being received at his residence 2105 Mayfair Place, Waycross, Ga 31501. Please keep the family in prayer during this difficult time.
