MR. MELVIN TAYLOR

Mr. Melvin Taylor passed away on July 24, 2025, in Chicago, Illinois. 

Melvin Jerome Taylor, born April 9th, 1951 to Eddie and Lois Taylor in Ware County, Georgia. God called him home and he departed this life on July 24, 2025.

Melvin graduated from Atkinson County Training School in 1971. He later moved from Waycross, Georgia to Chicago, Illinois and was a long-time resident of Chicago. He was employed for over 30 years at Union Pacific Railroad.

He accepted Christ at an early age and served as a deacon for many years at St. John Church in Chicago, Illinois.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Eddie and Lois Taylor; and grandson, Tyris Ahmad Faison.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife: Diana Taylor; Five children: Chantae Taylor, Kalista Green, LaTonya Taylor, Melvin Taylor, Jr. and Brandon (Tiffany) Taylor; three siblings: Sandra Winkfield, Charles Taylor, and Michael Taylor; five grandchildren: Jawuan Taylor, Tyrese Faison, Alanah Barlow, Laelah Taylor, and Tristian Taylor.

He will be missed by a host of cousins, family, friends, and all those who knew and loved him.

A funeral service will be held in Chicago, Illinois on Saturday August 2, 2025, at 11:00 am in the chapel of Emmanuel Chapel Funeral Home. A burial in Waycross, GA will be held on August 10, 2025, at 11:00 am in Taylor Chapel Cemetery. Please continue to keep the family in prayer.
