MR. NATHANIEL WILFORD LOWD

Nathaniel Wilford Lowd was born on October 5, 1930, in New York City, New York, to the late Nathaniel Wilford Lowd, Sr. and Edith Frances Lowd. After completing his high school education, he proudly served in the U.S. Army. Upon completing his military service, he returned home and began working at Scapa, a local plant.

After retiring from Scapa, Nathaniel dedicated himself to his family's business, Lowd Dry Cleaners. Known for his exceptional dry-cleaning skills, he built strong relationships within the community, who trusted him to clean and repair their clothing. For many years, he worked alongside his brother Charles, forming a strong partnership. After Charles' passing, Nathaniel became the sole owner of the business, continuing to serve his loyal customers until his health declined.

Nathaniel was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers: Howard Lowd, Charles Lowd, Donald Lowd, and Edwin Lowd. He leaves to cherish his memory his brother, Raleigh (Francis) Lowd; his sister-in-law, Mrs. Laura Lowd; and his beloved companion of over 40 years, Ms. Yvonne Williams Holmes. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and a host of other loving family members and friends.

Nathaniel Wilford Lowd’s hard work, dedication, and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. 

Funeral arrangements are as follows: A viewing is planned for Monday, February 24, 2025, at the Fluker Funeral Home Chapel from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm in Waycross, GA. His funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 25, 2025, 11:00 AM, at Fluker Funeral Home Chapel. Burial is to follow immediately in the Hazzard Hill Cemetery.   Please keep the family in prayer during this difficult time.
