MRS. AVA McKNIGHT Obituary

Ava Nell McKnight, age 69, passed away peacefully at her home in Homerville, Georgia, on September 6, 2025.

Born and raised in Homerville, Ava was cherished by her community for her generous spirit, loving heart, and unmatched cooking—especially her legendary Friday night fish fries that brought together friends, neighbors, and loved ones. Her kitchen was more than a place to prepare meals; it was a space of comfort, laughter, and connection. Ava touched countless lives with her kindness and hospitality.

She was the beloved wife of Ulysees McKnight for 45 years and a devoted mother to Stacy Ford, Lamar McKnight (Shelbra), Amanda Webb, and Stephen McKnight. Ava was a proud grandmother to Kierra Ford, Avaionna Cobb (Wendell), Rhina Morris, Raleigh Gifford, Khloe McKnight, Brody McKnight, and Avery McKnight. She also cherished her great-grandchildren, Chase Ford and Wyatt Cobb, and leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews.

Ava was preceded in death by her parents, Georgia Ann McNeil and John McNeil, and her siblings: Vernie Jenkins (Mazie), Mozell Tolbert (Billy), Lloyd McNeil, John McNeil, Mary Bell (KC), and James Burn. As the last surviving child of their union, Ava leaves behind a lasting legacy of strength, faith, and unconditional love.

Her life was a reflection of generosity, warmth, and deep-rooted faith. Ava will be dearly missed by all who knew her and lovingly remembered for the joy she brought into the lives of others.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 1:00 PM at Greater Morning Star Baptist Church.

Please keep the family in prayer during this difficult time.
