In the Beginning: Charlie Mae Hill was born September 2, 1930, to the late Charles and Essie Mae Smith in Savannah, GA. She was the second of four children born to this union.
They Became One Flesh: Charlie Mae Smith was joined in holy matrimony November 3, 1957 to Calvin Hill, Sr. She is the mother of three sons, Calvin Jr., Jeffrey and Kenneth.
Life’s Pursuits: Mrs. Hill spent her adult life in the profession of care giving. She began her employment at Baptist Village. She left the Village after seven years for employment at Memorial Hospital. She remained with the hospital until she retired after thirty-five years of service.
Life’s Pleasures: In her youth she had a passion for music and dance. She later developed a love for and became an avid bowler. She went on to win multiple awards in the sport as well as competing in numerous local, regional and state tournaments. She also enjoyed fashion; so much, she often sewed her own clothing and of her children as well. She enjoyed shaping, firing and painting hand made pottery. The pottery could be seen displayed throughout her home. She frequently gifted some of her finest pieces to her family and friends.
Profession of Faith: She confessed Christ at an early age and remained a lifelong believer in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She believed in living her life according to the the Word of God. She was a true believer.
Hill-House: She leaves to cherish her memories three loving sons; Calvin Jr. (Denise deceased), Jeffrey (Mignon) and Kenneth. She left loving memories with ten grandchildren; Nicholas, Jahmay (Savannah), Ja’Ron, Jeffrey II, De’Nasia, Destiny, De’Asia, Deontae’, Danielle and Daniel. One grandson proceeded her in death Gavin. She also leaves behind seven great grandchildren; Jaylen, Elijah, Nina, Neivyn, Nariya, London and August. She was proceeded in death by her husband (Calvin Sr.) and her parents (Charles and Essie Mae). She was also preceded in death by two siblings one brother Charles and one sister Faye. She leaves cherished memories with one surviving sister Mary (Fred deceased). She leaves three surviving sister-in-laws Alma (Jake deceased), Gloria (Ernest deceased) and Lillie Mae (Audubon deceased). She also leaves to cherish her memory a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
