Gloria Delores Battle-Melton transitioned peacefully to her eternal celebration on Saturday, November 18, 2023.

Gloria, known affectionately as "Sista," was born on August 29, 1952, in Folkston, GA, to the late Elisha Battle and Ethel Jordan-Battle.

During her youth, Sista was very active in school, playing basketball, becoming class vice president, holding the title for 1st African-American Miss Home-Coming Queen in Charlton County, and twice for 1st Black Miss Bethune. Gloria also joined the school band, playing the clarinet. During this time, she met her high school sweetheart, Joseph Melton.

As she matured into adulthood, she began to establish her life journey. During this time, she married her then-high school sweetheart and relocated to Germany, where they parented their three children, Omar Tyrone Melton, Timisha Lafaye Melton, and Cameo Renee Melton.

Many years later, Gloria turned a new leaf in her life, during which time she moved back to the States and relocated to Folkston, GA, where she eventually met Timothy Shellman. Together, they parented two children, Alexander Shellman and Timothy Shellman.

She established herself in a long-term career with the AJM Packaging company, where she would retire some 20-plus years later.

Gloria was passionate about life, knew how to party, and enjoyed a good "cold one." she loved her coffee, sweet red wine, and seafood. She also enjoyed solving word puzzles and watching some of her favorite game shows, including Jeopardy, The Price is Right, and Wheel of Fortune.

Gloria leaves many fond memories and will be cherished by five children O'mar Tyrone Melton, Timisha Lafaye Melton, Cameo Renee Melton, Alexander Juan Shellman, Timothy Shellman Jr.; eleven grandchildren, Aquilat Dannina Shellman-Thomas (Ray Charles ), Jamie Levern Shellman, E'lisha Renee Shellman, Sankofa Melton-Relaford, Amarion Jaquan Shellman, Olumide Melton-Relaford, Aniya Shellman, Timothy Shellman Jr., Iyana Shellman, Santrez Lerone Martin, Tristen Shellman; great grandchild Jah'Mir Semaj Shellman; sisters and brothers Annie Faye Blocker, Joie Lee Battle (Vernika); Carol Jones, nieces and nephews Larenda Perkins-Hollins (Aaaron), Felicia Perkins-Dendy(Kevin), Craig Perkins, Melissa Blocker; special and loving friend Linda Cobb and a host of loving cousins, family and friends. She was preceded in her transitioning by her parents, Elisha and Ethel Battle, brother, Junior Boy (June Bug) Battle and nephew Dominique Durden.
