Janie Mae Cobb, age 74, entered into her final rest on Friday November 7, 2025, at Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida. She was born December 2,1950, in Alma Georgia, to Booker “Book” and Alice (Frazier) Tomlin, both preceded her in death. She was educated in the Jacksonville Public School system, where she is was able to also attend Job Corp and study for two years in Albuquerque Mexico. Although Janie never had any biological children, she has always expressed how blessed she was to be able to raise her younger sister who also proceeds her in death, Louise Tomlin’s four children. She married Curtis Lee Cobb on July 2, 2002, in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. During her years of employment, she had a wonderful knack for making friend wherever she went. Janie lived life to the fullest through life’s simple pleasures; chatting with friends and family, attending yard sales, and spending time with her nephews and nieces. In her later years she would become a Jehovah witness holding weekly study sessions and attending Kingdom Hall. Janie had a natural green thumb, was very passionate about her flowers, container vegetables and her soap operas.
She is survived by her husband Curtis; nephews: James Tomlin, Clarence Tomlin, and Ivan Tomlin (Ashley); Niece Sharonda Muller (Reginald) all of Jacksonville, FL; sister-in-law, Annette Lane of Waycross Ga; cousins Bishop Clarence Adamson (Margaret), Waycross Ga and Janice Adamson; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins. and close family friends.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, November 29, 2025, at 11:00 at Refreshing Springs COGIC, 517 Mary Street, Waycross, GA 31501.
