On Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Pam Health Specialty Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida, our Heavenly Father welcomed His faithful servant, Janie Coffie, into eternal rest.
Born on August 5, 1946, in Waycross, Georgia. Janie was the beloved daughter of the late Willie James Ruffin and Janie Lue Ruffin. She received her formal education at Center High School. During her employment years she worked for Ruben Brothers Shoe Factory and Golden Poultry. Janie was joined in holy matrimony to the late Leroy Coffie, with whom she shared more than 30 years of love, partnership, and unwavering devotion.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Larry Williams Sr. of Rochester, New York; her grandparents, Jessie C. Smith and Willie Mae Smith; and three cherished grandchildren: Asha Christopher, Sabias Coffie, and Farisa Patterson, all of Waycross, Georgia.
Janie leaves behind a legacy of love through her four devoted daughters: Angela Butler (Leander Sr.), Patricia Tiger, Garnetta McClin, and Barbara Hunt (Willis), all of Waycross, Georgia. She is also survived by her brother, Willie Williams Jr. of Rochester, New York.
Her memory will continue through eleven grandchildren: Toya Byrd, Dee Coffie, Eddrick Heard, Ebony Roberts, Farris Patterson, Shikema Gaskins, Adrian Paisley, Fabian Patterson, Valisha Tiger, Leander Butler Jr., and Aleeta Tiger; thirty great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends who will forever cherish her warmth, wisdom and kindness.
The family wishes to give special acknowledgement to a loving and devoted friend, Mr. Verlon O’Neal. Your care, compassion, and unwavering support mean more than words can express, and we will forever remain grateful.
Family and friends are being received at her daughter Angela Butler 908 Bertha Street, Waycross, GA 31503.
We humbly request that you remember the Coffie Family in your prayers during this difficult time.
