MRS. JEAN BELLAMY

Jean Bellamy was born January 25, 1939, to the late Grace Lee Holmes Peterson and the late Robert “RV” Peterson in Lake Wales, Polk County, Florida. Raised in Waycross,
Ware County, Georgia she received her formal education from the public school system and graduated in Center High School’s class of 1959. She relocated to New Jersey in 1965 where she resided for over 30 years. She furthered her studies in Home Healthcare by attending Essex County College in Newark, NJ. She was also a pillar in the community serving as a foster care parent in Irvington, NJ. Her service as a foster care parent led her to adopting 4 of the children she cared for.
 
Jean spent most of her life leading, guiding, and being a great support system for her children, grandchildren, and other close relatives. She was someone anyone could go to for love, support, prayer, and good home cooked meals. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, baking, reading, and playing the piano.  In 1996 Jean returned to Waycross to reside. There she attended Friendship Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the Mission’s Ministry. Most importantly she adored her family and was never without her twin sister Jeanette Peterson, whom she loved dearly.  Jean gainer her wings on Wednesday August 3, 2022, at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross, GA. She was 83 years old. She left an abiding imprint on all our hearts and will be missed dearly.
 

In addition to her parents, Jean was predeceased by her husband, Ernest “Pluggy” Bellamy, daughter, Melissa Jeanette Bellamy, twin sister Jeanette Peterson, and brother Robert E. Peterson. She leaves her memories to be cherished by children Jamal Bellamy (Adiyla) of Irvington NJ, Melody L. Johnson of Waycross, GA, Shavonne M. Bellamy of Blackshear, GA, and Kenneth “Asodd” Bellamy (Brandy) of Augusta, GA; grandchildren Shaquan Bellamy, Janae Bellamy, Clinterra Johnson, Herbert Johnson, Romaya Kenney, Camille Bellamy, Cameron Davis, Kennedy and Khai Bellamy; great grandchild Camreigh Johnson; nieces Patricia “Pat” Lucas, Natalie Denson, Shelly Peterson, Samantha Walker (Clint), great nieces Tameeka Peterson, Lauren Walker, Chynna Peterson, Sanai Robinson, Jaida Peterson; great nephews Aaren Walker, Jarrett Walker (Nia), Jaden Peterson.
