Joyce Darlene Burke, 65, of Blackshear and Albany, Georgia, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 29, 2025. Born in Ocilla, Georgia, on November 20, 1959, she was the beloved daughter of the late William and Murtis McGee.
Joyce lived a full life, marked by faith, family, and hard work. Over the years, she held many jobs and made countless connections with those around her. She was a woman of strength, kindness, and deep devotion.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her infant sister, Nora McGee.
Joyce is lovingly remembered by her husband, Joe Burke, and her two sons, Joseph Burke and Patrick Burke. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Bailey Burke, Kayden Burke, Tyler Burke, and Kara Burke, all of Albany, Georgia.
She is also survived by her sister Deanna Jenks, and her brother James McGee (Dorothy) of Michigan; her nephews William, Derrick, and Jesse; nieces Amy and Jamie; and great-niece and nephew Christina and Ryan. Joyce’s life was further enriched by dear friends who became family—Amber and Rosita—whose love and companionship brought her great joy.
A member of the Church of God in States, Joyce's faith was central to her life and a guiding force in how she loved and served others.
A memorial service will be held at a later date to honor her life and legacy.
