July 20, 1944 ~ January 6, 2023 (age 78) 78 Years Old

Obituary

Roberta Bolden Conyers was born July 20, 1944. She was the oldest child of the late Charlie Lee and Ora Dee Bolden. Roberta departed this earthly life peacefully at Pruitt Health Crestwood Nursing Home in Valdosta, GA on January 6, 2023.

“Roe” was educated at Homerville High and Elementary School. Growing up her close schoolmates and friends referred to her as “Hannah – Babe”.  She met and married the love of her life, the late Willie C. Conyers of Pineview Georgia. Ora “Tan” Conyers Tiller was the joy of this union, along with two other daughters who preceded her in death - Renee and Angela.

Ms. Conyers gave her life to Christ at an early age singing in the choir and serving on Trustee Board and Missionary Society at Brown’s Chapel AME Church, Homerville. Sister Roberta was the Secretary for the Order of Eastern Star, Mariah Goodman Chapter #282. She was a faithful member of the Bossanova Social Club, Miracle Express Club and the Magnolia Social Club.

Roberta lived over 30 years in Cocoa, FL working as a cook at the International House of Pancakes (IHOP). Returning to Homerville in 1984, she continued to cook soulful meals for family and friends. She operated Roe’s Cozy Corner to share her love of cooking with the community. Ms. Roberta participated in the summer food program for youth at Forest Avenue Community Center.

Roberta was affectionately known as “Bid Mama.” Her greatest joy was her daughter, Ora “Tan,” her grandson, Jarvis, and her siblings. Roberta’s love for her family and friends had no boundaries or limits. She was an amazing mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. She found much pleasure dancing to the blues, a game of spades or bingo, and watching WWE. Roberta’s laughter will truly be missed and never be forgotten.

Roberta is preceded in death by her uncle - Charles Jackson, aunts - Annie Mae Guice, Maybel Lovette, Charlie Mae “Popcorn” Smith, and nephews - Suan “Boo Boo” Gordon and Clay Cross.
