“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” Revelation 21:4
Mother Sallie Pearl (Green) Gardner was born on December 31, 1937, in Macon, Georgia, to the late Willie J. and Frank Green. She was the middle child of five siblings: three of which preceded her in death; Frankie J., Johnny Nelson, and Gloria.
Sallie was a kind, faithful, purposeful, and gracious woman. She later moved to St. Louis, Missouri, where she and her devoted husband, Freddie Lee Gardner, lived and worked at Merrimack College for over 40 years. After retirement, she returned home to Waycross, Georgia.
A longstanding member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, Sallie’s life was a reflection of her deep and abiding faith. She didn’t just give her life to Christ at an early age—she was born into Christ and walked in divine favor throughout her life. She carried herself with poise and grace, remaining faithful and steady even through difficult times. She was kind, accepting, and never judgmental—always willing to help others with a heart full of compassion.
Sallie was and always will be the heart and light of her family—even in the darkest moments.
She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Paul Angelo Gardner.
She leaves behind a legacy of love in her granddaughters, Erica Brown and Ashley Williams; her brother, Kevin Galbert; and her great-grandchildren: Mackenzie Brown, SeKoreon Benton, SeKhiyah Benton, SeKyden Benton, and SeKhiryn Benton along with a host of loving family members and friends throughout Waycross, Georgia, and beyond.
Her life is a testament to the love she leaves behind.
Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025, in the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, 702 Arnold McKinney Dr., Waycross, GA 31501. Interment will follow in the Hazzard Hill Cemetery, 905 Central Ave, Waycross, GA 31501. Please keep the family in prayer during this difficult time.
