Sheila Ann Pettyjohn went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, December 31, 2023. She’s proceeded in death by her parents Napoleon and Ann Hardy, two sisters Cheryl McCrea and Rosemary Williams one granddaughter Brittany Williams and her loving son Rodney Chase.
Sheila was born on February 25, 1947, in Chester, Pa. to Napoleon Hardy and Anne Will Tookes- Hardy. As the oldest of six children who all loved her dearly, she was very outspoken. Upon high school graduation from Chester High School in 1965 she moved to Boston, Ma. While residing in Boston Sheila completed courses in computer operations for the New England Telephone company. Sheila then moved to Folkston Ga to become her grandmother’s devoted caregiver Janie Hardy. During this time Sheila gave her life to Christ at a young age and was devoted servant for Christ at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. While an active member at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church she served as the Usher Board President up until she went to be with the Lord. She later went on to attend Waycross-Ware Technical School to become a Laboratory Assistant. Upon her graduation from college, she became an employee at Memorial Satilla Health with 35 years of service as a laboratory technician specializing in Microbiology. During this time at Satilla Health, she meets her best friend Yvonne Latimore who became her extended family.
Sheila no stranger to kitchen as she oversaw the kitchen ministry and enjoyed feeding her neighbors or anyone who said they were hungry. When she was not feeding someone, she spent her time listening to music, dancing or reading a good novel. She loved spending time with her family and friends.
Sheila is survived by two loving daughters Cheryl Chase-Johnson (Anton) of Smyrna, DE and April Pettyjohn of Miramar, FL. One sister Patricia Hardy of Chester, PA, three brothers: Carl Hardy her personal Uber driver (Karen) of Parkside, PA, Marvin(Duck) Hardy of Chester, PA, Nathaniel Hardy of Wilmington, DE, one grandson Kameron Mason of Chester, PA six granddaughters: Seirra Chase of North Charleston, SC, Shadeique Chase of Stanton Island, NY, Jalisa Chase of Chester, Pa Mya Johnson of Smyrna, DE Tameka Johnson of Orlando, FL and Royalty Williams of Tuskegee, AL. two Goddaughters: Tia Lambert of Folkston, Ga and Staci Drew of Waycross, Ga one godson Caleb Howard, six great grands and host of nieces, nephews, cousin and friends who will miss her dearly.
Sheila will sleep in peace with her parents at Chester Rural in Upland, PA
