Sonya Monicque Reese Hall was born on May 9, 1973, at the Clinch Memorial Hospital in Homerville, GA and grew up in Waycross, GA.
She was the oldest of three children born to Claretha Cox Burneys and Roosevelt Reese, Jr. She accepted Christ at an early age. She joined New You Ministries in 2010 under the leadership of Dr. Martha Hall. There she served faithfully as an usher.
Sonya received her education in the Ware Co. School System and received her Diploma in 1994. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She loved dancing, cleaning and cooking, and occasional adult coloring.
Sonya is preceded in death by her mother, Claretha Cox Burneys. She is survived by a devoted husband John of 11 years; her parents Roosevelt, Jr. and Bettye Reese; two brothers: Marvin Reese (Sandra); and Fred Reese; three aunts: Loveta Moore, Margaret Reese Carter, and Jessie Mae Reese Howard; two uncles: Larry Reese and John Reese, Sr.; a loving mother-in-law: Mary Hall; two sisters-in-law: Phyllis Hall Perry (Ralph), Shirlean Hall Barber (Christopher); two brothers-inlaw: Anthony Hall and Michael Hall; a devoted godmother: Gladys White; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Sonya fought a good fight, finished her race, kept her faith, and was awarded her crown of rejoicing on October 31, 2023.
