MRS. SYLVIA "BAE-BAE" (JOHNSON) HILL

MRS. SYLVIA HILL Obituary

Sis. Sylvia E. Johnson Hill was born on February 6, 1948 in Waycross, Georgia to the late Deacon William R. Johnson Sr. and Mrs. Alberta Staten Johnson. She received her formal education from the public school system of Waycross, Georgia and graduated from Center High School in 1966. She also attended Savannah State University.

After college Mrs. Hill worked as a secretary for several years for the Waycross School System. Mrs. Hill was the first Black Female to work for the City of Waycross in the Human Resource Department for 28 years. Mrs. Hill was also honored for being the first African American to attain the status of Official Clerk in the Water Collection Department at Waycross City Hall. Mrs. Hill was in the forefront of public, civic, cultural and undertaking of the Waycross Community through the years. She was well known and love by everyone.

Mrs. Hill met and married Mr. Allen C. Hill Sr. on April 26 and they raised four sons, Bernard Davis Sr., Danta’ Johnson, Erich Johnson and Allen C. Hill, Jr.

Mrs. Hill was a member of St. Paul New Life Outreach Ministries in Waycross, Georgia. Mrs. Hill affectionately known as “BaeBae” loved her family dearly. She had a great sense of humor and wanted to feed everyone that came to visit with her or if you needed a meal she would cook it and bring it to you.

Sis. Sylvia E. Johnson Hill released the cares of the world and entered into peace with her Heavenly Father after an illness on March 23, 2024. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Allen C. Hill Sr., four brothers, Clinton Johnson, Albert Johnson, Curtis Johnson and Otis Johnson.

She leaves with precious memories four sons, Bernard Davis, Sr. (Vannessa Cooper Davis), Dante’ Johnson, Erich Johnson (Maria Narvaez), and Allen Hill, Jr. (Anna Hill), and one brother, William Johnson, two sisters, Velma Goettie and Joan Annette Hill (Curtis Hill), grandchildren, Bernard Davis, II, Lavorris White, Sidney Hill, Paris Hill, NyTaliya Johnson, Raekwon Chatman, Zastashia McDowell, Christan McDowell, Shakera Johnson, Mandarius Johnson, Santoria Johnson, Britnee Narvaez, Niesha Johnson, Brooke Church Milstead, Erich Johnson, Jr., Evahn Johnson and special nephews, Bennie Goettie, III, Michael Goettie and Kelvin Johnson, special family, Lilly Taylor and Suzette Taylor, special cousins, Dorothy Benefield and Maxine Robinson and a host of great grands, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Please continue to keep the family in prayer during this difficult time.
