MR. STEVE BARNER, JR. Obituary

Steve Alexander Barner, Jr. (Strongbone) passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, in Gainesville, Florida at the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center. Steve was born on June 22, 1957, to the late Louise Shaw-Davis and Steve Alexander Barner, Sr.

Steve was the oldest of six siblings and was raised in a loving and caring home. Steve accepted the Lord Jesus Christ and joined the Greater St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Waycross, Georgia. He loved the Lord and believed in doing right by others.

Steve graduated from high school in 1975. While in high school, he found his love for cooking. This passion led him to become a cook at the local Shoney’s Restaurant. Shortly after graduating from high school, Steve obtained a degree in electrical engineering from the local community college. He later joined the United States Army. While serving in the military, Steve received his certification in plumbing. After completing his military service, he returned to Waycross and decided to continue his education and receive a certification in Heating and Air.

Steve eventually relocated to Atlanta, where he spent several years. He decided to return to Waycross, where he met and married his loving wife, Cynthia. He rejoined his home church and served faithfully on the Greeters Ministry. He ran his own Plumbing, Heating, and Air business for over 20 years. Steve was an intelligent individual, capable of doing many things.

Steve was known as a loving and kind individual. The life of the party. He loved his family unconditionally. Although there is sadness and bereavement, we are comforted by the many memories we shared with him. His passing leaves a very lonely place in our hearts, but we submit to the will of our God.

Steve is proceeded in death by his wife, Cynthia Yvonne Barner; his parents, Mr. Steve Alexander Barner Sr. and Ms. Louise S. Davis and brother Timothy Shaw.

He leaves to cherish his memory four children: Katrina Monique Barner (Jeremy J. White Sr.) of Waycross, Ga., Mr. Leonardo Milton (Starria Askew) of North Carolina, Michael Angelo Milton of Atlanta, Ga., and Cleopatra Milton of North Carolina. Two sisters: Debroah Gilbert (Milton) of Newport News, Va, and Tabitha Shelton (Kenneth) of Hope Mills, NC, and Two brothers: Michael Barner (Ann)of Waycross, GA; and Gregory Davis (Licresha) of Lithia Springs, GA; Five grandchildren: Quinton Barner, Jeremy Jermaine White Jr., William Rahem Octavis White, Diamond Kaleshia Barner, and Glendasia Skylar Barner all of Waycross, Georgia a great-grandchild: Jeremy Jermaine White III of Waycross, Ga and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins ,and friends

Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., in the Greater St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 1110 Pittman Street, Waycross, GA 31501. Interment will follow in the Barner Cemetery, Waycross, GA 31501
