Wilber "Jean" Story, was born on June 20, 1950, to the late James Norris and Bernadine Davis Young in Waycross, GA. She was a member of Big Bethel Freewill Baptist Church. Jean was devoted to her children and family. She was educated in the Ware County Public School System. She always had a smile for everyone she met. The words others have used to describe her are kind, sweet, always smiling and beautiful inside and out. Her last place of employment was the Dollar Tree in Waycross after retiring from Kroger in Atlanta where she spent many years as a Deli Manager. She was preceded in death by her parents: James Norris and Bernadine Davis Young; brothers: Jimmy Lee Odom, Johnnie Garard and Obediah Young, loving sister Gloria "Big Glo" Cooper. She leaves to cherish her memories three daughters, Tami Regina Carter(Cheikh) of Atlanta, GA, Natasha Eli of Atlanta, GA, Veronica Gamble of Waycross, GA; one sister: Ocilla Whitehead (Greg) of Waycross, GA.; one brother, Robert Cooper (Stephanie) of Augusta, GA; two aunties: Johnnie Mae Howard of Apopka, FL and Vesta Moody (David) of Macon, GA.; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and sorrowing friends.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, April 25, 2026, at 2:00 pm in the Big Bethel Freewill Baptist Church. Family and friends are being received at 1204 Parkway Drive, Waycross, GA.
