Brother Willie Lee Reese was born August 10, 1952, in Millwood, Georgia to the late Roosevelt and Arlanda F. Reese. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five siblings: Evangelist Johnny Reese, Betty Jean Reese, Leah Graham, Hattie Griffin, and Reatha Fields.
He received his formal education in the Ware County Public Schools. Shortly after high school, Willie was drafted into the United States Army in 1970 during the Vietnam War and served his country well.
Brother Reese had a passion for spreading the gospel through his music. At a very young age, Willie was determined to play the guitar. He took a piece of wood, some nails, and some wire from an old automobile tire and made a guitar and taught himself to play it. He continued on until he learned to play the organ and the keyboard. He had a God-given talent and used it to glorify God. Brother Reese played for various gospel groups and churches in the community and surrounding areas. Union Chapel Church of Mershon, GA and Bethel Temple First Born Church of Blackshear, GA was his final stop. He enjoyed playing the keyboard for Bethel Temple’s congregation. He often said, “They love me over there”, but he called Congregational First Born Church his home.
He was employed by J. R. Taxicab Company.
Those left to cherish his memories include three brothers, Roosevelt (Bettye) Reese, Larry Reese, and John Reese; two sisters, Margaret Carter, and Jessie Mae Howard all of Waycross, GA; one sister-n-law, Lois Reese of Waycross, GA; two aunts, Elder Dr. Warnell F. Parker of Quitman, GA, and Gracie Brooks of Miami Gardens, FL; and two uncles, Willie (Gladys) Faison of Bainbridge, GA and W. C. (Patricia) Faison of Valdosta, GA; cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
