Ms. Betty June McTier Palmer was born the first of four children (twin to her sister Barbara) to Robert Greatheart and Regina McTier on March 14, 1947, in Montgomery, Alabama. At an early age, the family relocated to Waycross, Georgia where Betty was reared and educated.
She attended Bailey Street Elementary School and graduated from Center High School (Tigers) Class of 1965. Betty embarked on a career in education and became an educator after graduating from Paine College in Augusta, Georgia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Robert McTier and her twin sister Barbara McTier Murphy.
Ms. Palmer loved her students and wanted to make sure they each had a proper education. She would often have fun dancing with her students and engaging personality with each of them.
She leaves to cherish her memories: Her son, Tserin, "Teddy' Stokes. A devoted significant other, Robert Poole, loving nieces and nephew, Sholanda (Alphonso) McTier Blount, Covington, GA; Roshawn McTier (Thomas Wright), Brunswick, GA; Leadra McCollins, Augusta, GA, Robert G. McTier, Augusta, GA, and a host of great nieces and nephews, cousins, and sorrowing friends.
Visitation will be held Friday, August 2, 2024, in the Fluker Funeral Home Chapel from 4-6 pm, Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at 11:00 am in the Church Of Christ Written In Heaven Church on Blackwell Street; Internment is following in the Hazzard Hill Cemetery in Waycross, GA. Visitors are being received at the home of Mr. Robert Poole 1115 Deputy St. Waycross, GA. Please continue to keep the family in prayer during this difficult time.
