MS. PAMELA O'HARA Obituary

Pamela Diane O’Hara was born on October 20, 1955, in Waycross, Georgia, to the late Vallie Mae Johnson O’Hara and William Lee O’Hara, Sr. From a young age, Pam displayed a deep spiritual devotion, joining St. Peters Missionary Baptist Church early in life. Her favorite scripture was Psalms 91, a passage she recited often with unwavering faith and  profound conviction.

Affectionately known as Pam, she attended the Waycross School System before pursuing her Nurse’s Aide certification at the Waycross–Ware County Area Vocational-Technical School. Pam dedicated many years of her career to compassionate service, working at Baptist Village and Ware Manor Nursing Homes in Waycross, GA. Later, she broadened her expertise by completing occupational competencies in Advanced Electronics, FCT Education Department in Tallahassee, FL. For the past eight years, Pam found joy in her role as a Jewelry Sales Associate at Walmart in Ellenwood, GA, where she continued to bring her warmth and dedication to those she served.

Pam’s children: Shon, Nita, and Boo, lovingly referred to her as “Ma”, a term that reflected their deep bond and mutual affection. Her children were the light of her life—there was nothing she held closer to her heart than their smiles and laughter. Pam’s love for her children and family knew no bounds, and she cherished them above all else.

Pam's life was a shining testament to kindness, resilience, and unwavering devotion to her family. She authored three novels: Dark Justice: "I Promised You, I Didn't Kill Anyone!", Searching: Dark Justice Series Book 2, and Wildin' Out: Dark Justice Series Book 3. Her debut novel, Dark Justice, struck a deep chord with readers through its powerful depiction of resilience in the face of adversity. Drawing from her own experiences, the book offered profound insights into the strength of the human spirit and the enduring capacity for hope, even amidst turmoil. As we honor her memory, we celebrate not only the boundless love she shared but also the passions and creativity that defined her extraordinary journey.

On April 11, 2025, in Decatur, GA, Pam heard her Heavenly Father say, “Well done thou good and faithful servant, enter into the joy of the Lord and take your rest”, and in the twinkling of an eye, a heavenly reunion took place with her parents Vallie Mae and William Lee O’Hara, Sr, siblings Capris O’Hara (Barbara Ann), Benjamin O’Hara, Barbara Ann O’Hara, Elizabeth O’Hara Taylor, Linda J. O’Hara, Reginald O’Hara, Maureen O’Hara Eason, Gail Goddard, special Nephews LeRoy O’Hara and Tony Taylor, a niece, Angela “Molly” McAllister, and a special cousin Calvin “Catman” Kennedy. Oh, what a Heavenly day of rejoicing.

Pam deeply valued every relationship in her life, including the countless readers whose lives were enriched by her words. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She leaves behind treasured memories with her firstborn and only son, Benjamin LaShon Cooper of Waycross, GA; her 2 daughters—eldest Juanita (Waymon) Wright of Valdosta, GA, and her baby-girl, Alexis Barker of Atlanta, GA—a sister, Gloria (Marcus) Orr, Jacksonville, FL, three brothers, Williams (Regina) O’Hara, Jr., Jacksonville, FL, Larry (Lucy) O’Hara, Waycross, GA, and Calvin E. O’Hara Sr., Sacramento, CA, a dear sister-friend since Middle School, Effie (Bishop Michael) Lattimore, Miami, FL, her 13 beloved grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, many treasured nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members and friends to include, Sharon Jackson, Kenyatta Willis, Dinah
