MS. QUEENELL HARGROVE Obituary

“Servant of God, well done!
Thy glorious warfare’s past;
The battles fought, the race is won,
And thou art crowned at last.”

QUEENELL C. HARGROVE was born on January 30, 1938, to the late Fed Conaway and Rhea King Conaway. She received her formal education in Atlanta, Georgia, through the Fulton County School System before relocating to Waycross, Georgia, in the 1960s.

At an early age, Queenell joined the Usher Board. Following her marriage to Dan J. Hargrove Jr. in 1979, she transferred her membership to New Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Waycross, Georgia, where she faithfully served as President of the Deaconess Board. She also served on the Mothers Board.

In addition to her church service, Queenell maintained a successful career as a manager for several public businesses in the Waycross area, including Greyhound Bus Station, Burger Chef, The Outpost, Prime Produce in Blackshear, Georgia, and Gold Kist Peach House.

She was preceded in death by her devoted and loving husband, Dan J. Hargrove Jr.; sisters, Oddie Brown and Eddie Mae Zigler; daughter, Maryann Sallett; and brothers, Bobby Conway, Edward Conway, and James Conway.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory her children: Curtis Lee Owens (Deborah), Franklin D. Owens (Alice), Ronnie Owens (Carol), Betty Owens, and Yolanda Mackey (Shawn), all of Waycross, Georgia; and Bernice Pate (Raymond) of Blackshear, Georgia. She is also survived by her son-in-law, Frankie Lee Sallett of Waycross, Georgia.

She leaves seven stepdaughters: Lisa Murphy (Terrell), Debbra Ransom (James), and Rena Hargrove, all of Waycross, Georgia; and Linda Hargrove, Justina Jackson, Katherine Kight, and Danette Harrison (Darrell), all of Jacksonville, Florida.

Additional survivors include her sister, Annie M. Richardson of Winter Haven, Florida; brother, Alphonso Cecil of Waycross, Georgia; brothers-in-law Lawrence Hargrove of Deltona, Florida; Tommy Hargrove; Willie Hargrove of Bloomfield, Connecticut; and Timmy Hargrove of Milledgeville, Georgia; and sisters-in-law Patricia Hargrove Monts of Bloomfield, Connecticut, and Mary Conway of Waycross, Georgia.

She also leaves her goddaughter, Sonya Baldwin; godsister, Claudette Mitchell; godson, Jackie Hooper Jr.; 17 grandchildren, 64 great-grandchildren, 35 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Family and friends are being received at 710 Bay Street, Waycross, GA on Monday, Tuesday and Friday from 10:00 am until 6:00 pm. Please continue to keep the family in prayer during this difficult time.
