Minister Oime Lee Edwards Bridges was born on March 15, 1945 in Homerville, Georgia to the late Willie Edwards Sr. and Earlee Johnson Edwards. She received her formal education from the public school system of Homerville.
Minister Bridges accepted Christ as her personal savior and was a member of First Homerville Holiness Deliverance Church where she served as a minister, usher and song leader on the Praise team. She was employed at Clinch Memorial Hospital as a nurse’s aide for twenty-six years before retiring at the age of seventy.
She was joined in holy matrimony to the late Chester Bridges.
She was called to her heavenly home on Thursday, January 21, 2021. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Chester Lee Bridges; three siblings Lucille Prester, Deacon Benjamin Edwards, Willie Edwards Jr.
Those left to cherish her memory include three daughters, Irene Coe (Roy) of Albany, Ga., Lucy Bridges Williams (Johnny B.) and Marilyn Bridges (Tyrone) both of Valdosta, Ga.; three brothers, Robert Edwards (Arlinda) of Homerville, Ga., Alexander Edwards (Patricia)and Willie James Edwards (Theresa) both of Valdosta, Ga.; two sisters, Willie Mae Evans and Glenda Young both of Homerville, Ga. ;a sister-in-law, Shirley Edwards of Homerville, Ga.; twelve grandchildren; twenty-nine great grandchildren; two special nieces Joann Edwards and Peggy Raymond; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and sorrowing friends.
A graveside service celebrating her life will be held Saturday, January 30, 2021 in Pine Forest Cemetery, Lake View Road, Homerville, Ga. at 2:00 p.m. with her pastor, Pastor Gertrude Sanford, offering words of comfort. Public visitation will be held Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
