Mother Claretha Wesley was born to the late Andrew Taylor and Jeanette Brinkley Taylor on January 17,1935 in Telmore (Ware County), Georgia. She was the sixth child of nine. She received her formal education from the Ware County/Waycross Public School System (Center High School Class of 1953).
Mother Wesley was joined in holy matrimony to the late Bishop Ernest Wesley, Jr., for 61 years. This union was blessed with six children.
She was a member of The Church of Christ Written in Heaven, Telmore, Georgia working faithfully by her husband’s side for fifty years. On April 5, 2015 Mother Wesley and Bishop joined Church of Christ Written in Heaven (headquarters) under the leadership of Bishop John A. Moss.
Mother Wesley was employed as a salesperson for a few years. However, for many years she was known for her seamstress work done out of her home.
She was a great mother not only to her six children, but to many other children she helped raise and nurture. She was affectionately known as "Mrs. Cat" in the "Canyon Community" because of their love and respect for her. Mother Wesley and her husband finished raising her three nephews George, Leepolan and Cornelius Pugh after their mother (her oldest sister) passed away.
Truly Mother Wesley was a Virtous Woman.
