Bro. Donald Alphonso Williams Sr. was born on June 29, 1947 to the late Jessie L. Smith and Dorothy Williams Edwards in Baxley, GA. Donald attended the public schools of Charlton County and graduated with the class of 1965. He was joined in marriage to Rose Miller Williams on June 30, 1973. He was affectionately known as the patriarch of his family. He enjoyed being with his family and spending time with his friends. His hobbies were sitting on his porch, listening to music, dancing, watching television and discussing sports. He was employed by Southeastern Refractory Inc. for many years until he retired.
Donald transcended from his earthly body on Thursday afternoon, December 31, 2020 at Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville, Florida. He was preceded in death by both parents, his stepfather: Robert L. Edwards Sr.; his brothers: Ronald Q. Edwards, Arthur Lee Edwards and Robert Edwards Jr. and his sister, Dorothy G. Edwards.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his devoted wife, Rose Williams of Folkston, GA; stepmother: Julia Mae Edwards, children: Donald A. (Donnette) Williams Jr., Pamela (Curtis) Nixon, Richard Dasher Sr., Pamela D. Williams, Derrick Melton, and Kimberly Williams all of Folkston, GA. and Latwana Lee of Jacksonville, FL. sisters: Jacqueline Williams of Brunswick, GA, Norma Jean (Rock) Sims of Columbia, SC, and Peggy Smith of Arlington, TX: brothers: Ervin Edwards, Calvin D. Edwards and Alvin L. Edwards all of Folkston, GA: in-laws: Henry (Carley) Miller of Hermitage, TN, Bennie (Wendy) Miller of Waterbury, CT, Jimmy Miller of Zephyrhills, FL, Doris Cotton of Folkston, GA and Lillie Miller of Brunswick, GA.: aunt: Eliza Mae West of San Antonio, TX, twenty-three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren: special cousin, Celia Maynor: four godsons: Ted Parrish, Richard Davis, Esmond Hutchinson, and Londrell Blake; special friends: Robert Taylor, Jimmy Knight, George Thomas, Terry Green, Angelo Mitchell and Jimmy Roberts; special friend from childhood, Charles Jinks: a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and sorrowing friends.
A graveside service will be held Sunday January 10, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. in Johanna Bailey Memorial Garden Mt. Carmetery Cemetery Road, Folkston, Georgia withBishop Van A. Baker Sr. presiding and Bro. Williams daughter will bring words of comfort.
