Mr. James Stanley McGriff

Mr. James Stanley McGriff was born September 10, 1958, to Mrs. Maggie Baker McGriff and the late Mr. Jessie McGriff Sr. in Atkinson County, Georgia. He grew up in Waycross, Georgia where he received his formal education from the Waycross Public School System.

“Stan the Man” or “Stone Cold”, as he was affectionately known, was employed for many years as a welder and cement finisher.

He departed this life on Monday June 20, 2022, in Waycross Health and Rehabilitation. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents Mr. Roosevelt and Mrs. Catherine Baker, Mr. Oscar and Mrs. Annie Lee McGriff; a sister, Mrs. Vivian Noble; a aunt, Mattie L. Rivers and a uncle, Oliver Baker.

Those left to cherish his memory include a son, Christopher Shaw (Tameshia) of Folkston, Ga.; his loving mother, Mrs. Maggie B. McGriff of Waycross, Ga.;  sisters, Mrs. Sherry Bacon (Ray) of Covington, Ga., Ms Janet M. Hudson of Fitzgerald, Ga., Ms. Paula Shider of Cincinnati, Oh and Ms. Jessie Mae Burch of Pearson, Ga.; a brother, Mr. Jessie McGriff Jr. of Waycross, Ga.; a God-sister, Ms. Betsy Shider of Waycross; aunts and uncles Mrs. Lucy Lee Hawkins of Augusta, Ga., Mrs. Barbara Douglas, Ms. Shirley Frazier both of Pearson, Ga., Mrs. Barbara Johnson (Elijah), Mrs. Jennie Crawford (Joe), Mrs. Verdie Andrews (Clyde), Ms. Deloris  Merritt all of Pearson, Ga., Ms. Geraldine Baker of Brunswick, Ga.; Mr. Billy Ross Baker (Shirlene) of Pearson, Ga.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, sorrowing friends and care givers at Waycross Health and Rehabilitation

A graveside service will be held Saturday at 3:00 p.m. in Oakland Cemetery, 2410 Alice Street, Waycross, Georgia with Minster Jimmy Dale Baker of Pearson, Ga. officiating.
Public visitation will be held Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
