Mr. Lawrence Randall Holmes was born July 11, 1946 in Homerville, Georgia to the late Joseph Holmes and Lola Weatherspoon Holmes. He received his formal education from the Clinch County Public School System and graduated from Homerville High School in 1964.
He joined Holmes Chapel AME Church at an early where he attended Sunday School.
After graduation he moved to Far Rockaway, N.Y. where he worked for the New York City Housing Authority. In later years he moved to Atlanta, Ga. and worked in the Atlanta Public School System until he retired.
On Sunday evening February 14, 2021 he entered into eternal rest At Peidmont Hospital in Atlanta, Ga. after an illness.
Surviors include his wife, Maxine Holmes; his children Vincent Holmes, Simone Glover both of New York, N.Y., Shawn Holmes of Baltimore ,Md. And Sherell Glover of Atlanta, Ga.; brothers, Joseph Holmes of Homerville and Benjamin Holmes of Waycross, Ga.;sisters, Yvonne Holmes, Bess Watt both of Homerville, Ga., Janie Holmes, Phyllis Harris both of Atlanta, Ga. and Patricia Victor (Xavier) of Albany, Ha.; five grandchildren, seven great grandchildrem; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be held Saturday February 27, 2021 at 3:30 p.m. in Holmes Chapel Cemetery, Homerville, Georgia with Minster Ernestine Jones bring words of comfort. Visitation will be Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Holmes Chapel Church, Clinch County, Georgia.
Final and most sacred arrangements are entrusted to the professional care of Fluker Funeral Home, 15 Robinson St., Homerville, GA.
