Mr. Michael Allen Johnson

Mr. Michael Allen Johnson, aka “Mike”, was born September 15, 1961, in Homerville, Ga to Bob Dennis and Sarah Johnson Thornton. He attended school within the Clinch County School System and accepted Christ at an early age.  Mike was a member of Elizabeth Baptist Church, in Argyle, GA.  Shortly after high school, he joined the United States Navy in December 1978 and remained until his separation in 1983. He served on the USS Saratoga out of Mayport Naval Base in Jacksonville, Florida. After his Naval career, Mike worked with various employers.  Though, his most recent employment, Manor Wood Products, was his last employer, before he became too ill to work.  Subsequently, he departed this life on August 11, 2021 at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross, Ga.

On December 19, 2010, Mike married Ms. Diane Johnson from Hattiesburg, Mississippi.  The marriage dissolved a few years later and no children were born from that union, but a lasting, respectful friendship developed over the years. Michael was well known by many. He was a kind, loving, gentle and humorous person.  His humorous character had a special place in the hearts of those privileged to have known him. He loved listening to music and detailing cars for family and friends. He loved to smile, tell jokes, socialize with family and friends, and treasured caring for his mama’s puppies, Lady and Tiger. He also adored gardening. Mike will be deeply missed.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Willis Johnson and Fannie Mae Grier.

Nieces and Nephews, Erika Stinson (Lewis III), Waycross, Ga; Kandice King, Argyle, GA, Brandon Grady (Ashley), Homerville, GA; Jacob Orr, Tuscaloosa, AL; Jerrica Orr, Huntsville, AL; Robyn Benton, Kentucky and Myla Benton, Conyers, GA; A host of great nieces and nephews; Best friends, Benjamin Edwards Jr., James Smith Jr, and a host of sorrowing relatives and friends.
