Mr. Sherman Cummings was born June 22, 1950 to the late Charles Lee Sr. and Bertha Mae Cox Lee in Homerville (Clinch County), Georgia. He received his formal education the Homerville Public School System.
Sherman was a hard worker and a kind man. His congenial character won a place in the hearts of those privileged to have known him. He worked in the timber industry for many years before retiring with more than twenty years as a tree planter.
He lived in Homerville, Georgia most of his life before moving to Valdosta, Georgia
On Wednesday December 29, 2020 he departed this life at South Georgia Mecial Center in Valdosta, Ga. after an illness.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 40 years, Fannie Hodges Bacon Cummings of Valdosta, Ga.; a son, Lonnie Trim of Homerville, Ga.; two he assisted in raising them who he loved as his own, Alicia Williams (Cedric) and Jeremie Pope of Valdosta, Ga.; his grandson, Lonnie Cox of Statesboro, Ga. ; sisters, Deaconess Cora Johnson, Alice Tiller and Missionary Lillie Swinson (Raymond) of Homerville, Ga.; brothers, Charles Lee Jr. (Virgil) of Madison, Fl., Minster John Lee (Deaconess Rose) and Frank Lee of Homerville, Ga ; a special aunt, Pastor aide Priscilla Townsend; a special nephew, Raymond Swinson; other people he loved dearly, Tyshoun Pope (Stephanie), Shanitra Pope, Janautica Pope, Treasure Kimp and Zyeria Pope; great grandchildren; special friends, Cedric Williams and Demetrius Washington; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relative and friends.
