Mr. Walter D. Dukes

Mr. Walter Davis Dukes Sr. was born March 22, 1934 to the late Ben  Dukes Sr. and Ella Anderson Dukes in Statesboro (Bulloch County), Georgia. He lived most of his life in Waycross, Georgia where he received his formal education from the public school system.

He was a long time and faithful member of New Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. He worked and retired from the Ware County Public Works Department.

On Thursday November 25, God called him to his heavenly home after an illness, In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two children, Eleanor Dukes and Vondy K. Dukes; siblings, Lottie D. McCall, Ruby Mae Brown, Coral Bradshaw, Lillie M. Tremble, Mattie Williams and Beulah Dukes Davis; a sister-in-law Janice Shaw.

He leaves to cherish his memory a devoted wife, Bernice Coley Dukes of Waycross; children, Brenda G. Revis (Eddie) of Augusta,  Ga., Walter  “Ray” Dukes Jr. Corlene Dukes Ramsey, Don Dukes and Art l. Dukes all of Waycross, Ga.; a sister, Ella Mae Simon of Waycross, Ga.; a brother Ben “Jodie” Dukes  Jr. of Blackshear, Ga.; grandchildren, a niece he and his wife raised, Shannon Nails of Waycross; nieces, nephews, cousins , six sisters-in-law,  five brother-in-law, other  relatives and friends.
