Dorothy Lee Whitaken Walker of Folkston, Georgia was born January 17, 1954 in Folkston, Georgia to the late David Lemon Whitaker Sr and Lillie Mae Mercer. She was the second oldest child of eight children. She received her formal education from the Charlton County Public School System.
She departed this life on December 1, 2021 at her residence after an illness. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Sandra Lee Maynor.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Van Walker; a god son, Javon Banks; a step daughter, Vanity Walker; a brother, Gifford Lee Whitaker (mahala); five sisters, Patricia Butler, Effie Noble, Janet King, JoAnne Noble and Daphne Mercer; two sisters-in-law, Sandy Walker and Niecy Walker; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be held Thursday December 9, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in Mt. Carmel memorial Cemetery, Mt. Carmel Cemetery Road, Folkston, Georgia with Rev. Robert Alderman, pastor of Mount New Home Missionary Baptist Church, Folkston, Georgia , bring words of comfort.
