Sis. Gloria Patricia Evans Wells was born to the late Samuel Evans and Georgia Elizabeth Battle Evans on August 6, 1940 in Waycross, Georgia. She was the first of six daughters and sister, Veronica Evans Blount, preceded her in death. She transitioned into Heaven on Wednesday morning February 3, 2021.
She received her formal education from the Waycross Public School System and graduated from Center High School. She furthered her education by attending Fort Valley State University in Fort Valley, Georgia and receiving a degree in education. She was a proud and dedicated member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.
Gloria was joined in holy matrimony to James Wells, Sr. She had two sons, Samuel B. Evans (deacesed) and James Wells, Jr.
She was an educator for over forty years having taught in the school systems of Atkinson County and Ware County. She taught children and later their children.
Gloria was loving and kind, her congeniall character won a place in the hearts of those privileged to have known her. She loved feeding the elderly, helping the helpless and needy children. Oh how those wonderful pound cakes will be missed. She baked cakes for anyone because this was her pastime.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, James Wells Jr.; sisters, Ann Evans Miller, Sandra Elizabeth Evans Robinson, Katherine Willene Evans and Beverly Joyce Evans Hill; grandchildren, Samuel Evans, Gloria “Mye” Evans, Myriyah Wells and Evan Wells; great grandchildren, Jada Evans, Javonta Evans, Naomi Evans, Zaiden Butler, Peydon Butler; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Sunday February 7th from 3 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday February 8th at Oakland Cemetery.
Final and most sacred arrangements are entrusted to the professional care of Fluker Funeral Home, 985 Ossie Davis Parkway, Waycross, GA.
