Mrs. Ina Denease Thomas Boyd, daughter of the late Carolyn Lewis Brown, was born on June 17, 1955, in Waycross, Georgia. She received her formal education from the Waycross Public School System. It is here that she met the love of her life and high school sweetheart Willie James Boyd, affectionately known as Jay Boyd. Later graduating from Waycross High School with the Class of 1973 she continued her education at Okefenokee Technical College.
On February 25, 1977 she was joined in holy matrimony to Jay Boyd and to this union one amazing son was born Tavares Boyd. It was often known that Ina was Jay’s world and they adored each other.
Ina worked for the City of Waycross as the Housing Authority Admissions Director. This career rewarded her with 32 years of being a dedicated employee.
From an early age Ina was influenced by her mother with giving back to the community, which included cooking and giving baked goods. Ina could bake a pound cake so good it would make you want to “slap your Momma”. Collecting elephants and traveling gave her joy, but her ultimate love was Pepsi and SHOPPING.
She was preceded in death by a brother and sister in law Richard (Rose) Thomas and a cousin she loved as a sister Martha Billups.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 44 years Willie James “Jay” Boyd, her loving son Tavares Boyd, Cousin Clarence Billups; nieces: Tangelia (Greg) Roberts and Shuronda Thomas; In-Laws: Rose Taylor and Al (Faye) Boyd; Special friend: Rita Thomas, Phyllis Gilliam and Maxine Johnson and a host of relatives and friends.
A special thank you to all of our neighborhood neighbors for your love and kindness throughout the years.
