Mrs. Mary White Obituary

A Time to be Born: Sister Mary Louise Williams White began her life journey September 28, 1926 in Telmore, GA. She was the eighth child of the late Elerie D. Williams, Sr. and Leola Baldwin Williams.

A Time to Love: She was married to the late Isaac White. Four children were born to this union, two sons and two daughters.

A Time to Build: A life- long resident of Ware County, Mary was educated in Waycross, graduating from Center High School. She received her B.S. degree from Savannah State College and completed advanced studies at the University of Georgia. She became a teacher in 1948 before Ware County schools were desegregated, teaching for 32 years before retiring. She later became the program coordinator for the IRS/AARP tax-aid program providing tax-aid for the elderly and was inducted into the 1999 Internal Revenue Service Hall of Fame as a Star Performer. Mary gave her life to Christ at an early age and served faithfully at Greater St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church. She was a devout member of the usher board and taught Sunday School for many years. She loved being surrounded by loved ones and friends. When she was not spending time with family or at church, she enjoyed planting flowers in her yard, taking road trips and shopping.

A Time to Die: Mary fought a good fight, finished her race, kept her faith, and was awarded her crown of righteousness on March 13, 2021. Preceding her in death were her husband, Isaac White, two brothers, I.G. Williams, Elerie Donnie Williams, Jr., and four sisters, Princetta Sumner, Carrie Evers, Rosa Murphy, and Lorene Williams.

Mary leaves to cherish her memory, two sons, Rev. Isaac Dorsey White (wife Christie) of Indianapolis, IN, and Edwin Dexter White (wife Laura) of Waycross, GA; two daughters, Lola Dean Kornegay of Orlando, FL and Octavia Louise White of Columbus, GA. Also mourning her passing are two brothers, Bill Williams and Alexander Williams of Waycross, Ga; three sisters, Marie Marable of Waycross, Ga, Ocie Slaughter and Martha Silas, both of Atlanta, GA; twelve grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
