On Wednesday, November 18, 2020, God opened the windows of heaven and beckoned one of His most precious gifts home, Ms. Cathy Young Burrell.
Cathy was born November 6, 1955 in Waycross, Georgia. She received her formal education from the public school system of Waycross and graduated from Waycross High School in 1973. Cathy was a dedicated team member with JR Taxi, answering their first call and had many loyal passengers who greatly admired the pride she took in every ride. She transformed many lives from her taxi and gained the respect of all who came in contact with her. She was well known for her magnetic spirit, infectious smile, cheerful and loving personality. Her desire to bless and serve others never went unnoticed. She accepted Christ and was a member of Emmanuel’s International Cathedral of the Holy Spirit where Bishop Michael-Angelo James is the pastor.
Cathy was preceded in death by her late husband, Brian Burrell, Sr., a bonus mother, Elizabeth Young; her daughter, Ericka Papadoupalos; and a special aunt, Irma Young. She leaves to cherish precious memories in the hearts of her mother: Clementine Cosby (Russell) of Fayeteville, GA; Sons: Xavrae Burse (Carmen) of Gainesville, FL and Brian (BJ) Burrell, Jr. of Los Angeles, CA; One Grandson: Camron Burse of Gainesville, FL; Brothers: Darren Davis (Cynthia) of Stockbridge, GA; Kelvin Cosby (Mary) of Atlanta, GA; Stuart Young of Englewood, NJ; Kenneth Cosby of Los Angeles, CA; Sister: Kandra Cosby of Atlanta, GA.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and devoted friends. A special fur baby Doc Burrell. She touched the lives of many.
A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, November 28, 2020 in Oakland Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. with her pastor, Bishop Michael-Angelo James, will give words of comfort.
Public vistation will be Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Fluker Funeral Home.
Final and most sacred arrangements are entrusted to the professional care of Fluker Funeral Home, 985 Ossie Davis Parkway, Waycross, GA.
